Details

There is a balance to be struck in food production between efficiency, competitiveness, food secuirty, animal welfare and the environment. Sustainable intensification is a phrase that has emerged from the debate on how to achieve this balance, but some would argue that this is an oxymoron when applied to livestock farming.

FAWC’s view is that food production should not be promoted at any cost. The concept of sustainability must include the welfare of farmed animals.
