Legal pest control: the use of snares

Following a consultation in 2003 on the use of snares under Section 11 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the Independent Working Group on Snares was established in December 2004 at Defra’s request. Its central aim was to produce a code of good practice concerning the use of snares. The group was additionally asked by Defra to seek agreement on good practice guidelines and to advise the government on the next steps.
