Biosphere Reserves: The opportunities and potential benefits to people living in and around them

A new brochure was published in June 2004 to highlight some of the benefits of biosphere reserve status using case studies from the UK and around the world. The brochure is aimed at both existing BRs and areas considering applying. To order a copy please contact Chuin Kee.

Dyfi Biosphere Conference Report (120 KB)

In June 2004 Ecodyfi organised a conference to explore community involvement in land management and sustainable development. The conference helped build links between different sectors of the community as well as with other European biosphere reserves, and gave fresh momentum to the BR review process at Dyfi.

November 2002: Braunton Burrows in North Devon becomes the UK's first Biosphere Reserve to meet the Seville criteria.

A workshop about Biosphere Reserves in the UK was held at Braunton Burrows Biosphere Reserve on 14-15 November 2002. The theme of the workshop was Developing Sustainable Economies. Read an account of the proceedings here .
