Countryside information for policy: the lessons from CS2000
CS2000 review report

This report on Countryside information for policy: the lessons from CS2000 provides an assessment of Countryside Survey 2000 (CS2000), a UK-wide survey of habitats and landscape features, from the perspective of users. The report describes and discusses:
  • the background to CS2000;
  • the characteristics and quality of data deriving form CS2000, that might affect their use for policy and research applications;
  • potential applications of CS2000 in relation to policy and research;
  • implications for future countryside surveys in the UK.

The report draws on several lines of evidence and enquiry, including: final reports from CS2000 modules; a series of interviews with users; a workshop on held in Cambridge; and independent published research into the factors influencing the use of countryside information for policy.
