REVISED LIST PUBLISHED OF AREAS WHERE LEAD SHOT USE IS RESTRICTED
A revised list of areas where lead shot is restricted was released on 30 August 2002 by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Amendments to the Environmental Protection (restrictions on the Use of lead Shot) (England) Regulations 1999 will come into force in England on 1 September 2002.
The amendments include changes to the list of SSSIs controlled by the regulations, and the removal of snipe and golden plover from the species list.
A full review of the regulations and their effectiveness will be carried out in 2004, five years after their implementation in 1999.
