Monitoring levels required in European Fisheries to assess cetacean bycatch, with particular reference to UK fisheries.

This is the final report on the investigation into monitoring levels in European Fisheries to assess cetacean bycatch, with particular reference to UK fisheries, conducted for Defra by the Sea Mammal Research Unit, University of St Andrews.

The aim of the project is to attempt to address the question of how much monitoring of fishing operations is needed to satisfy the intent of Article 12 of the European Union's Council Directive 92/43, with regard to levels of cetacean bycatch.
