Disinfectants

Veterinary disinfectants are a vital part of animal disease prevention and central strategies. VLA offer a service to test veterinary disinfectants for cleansing and disinfecting buildings, farm equipment, animal crates and vehicles etc.

If it can be demonstrated that the product is efficacious and complies with the Biocidal Products Directive it can be placed on The Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) (England) Order 2007.

Approved disinfectants

See the Defra website for a list of approved disinfectants for use in England and Wales.

The list of approved veterinary disinfectants displays:

  • approved disinfectants in alphabetical order (The A-Z index is displayed at the top of the page)
  • the approved dilution rate
  • the company name and address
  • the Orders the disinfectant is approved for use under.
