Collaborations with industry
VLA actively seeks to exploit its intellectual property, know-how and expertise with commercial organisations.
This exploitation may take the form of collaborative research, contract research, licensing or joint ventures.
VLA also looks for new opportunities to develop novel products, new services or new business ventures which utilise its world-class expertise and facilities.
Recent examples of technology commercialisation have included:
Agreement with Qiagen GmbH and Applied Biosystems Inc. to develop and validate real-time PCR assays covering a wide range of animal diseases.
- Collaborative research programme to develop novel vaccines with ImmunoBiosystems Inc.
- Service and marketing agreement with Eurofins Genescan to offer feed testing for animal products.
- Establishment of identibac for the commercialisation of novel microarray diagnostics for molecular genotyping.
