Bovine tuberculosis

Our main aims are to:

  • increase our understanding of risk factors for bovine tuberculosis (TB)
  • provide surveillance information about the occurrence of TB in cattle and other species
  • develop new and improved diagnostic tests
  • develop vaccines
  • increase our understanding of the pathogenesis and transmission of TB.

Genome sequence

A large collaborative project supporting many of these aims has been completed.  The entire genome sequence of Mycobacterium is available

The sequencing teams were based at VLA Weybridge, The Institute Pasteur, Paris and The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, UK.

The paper describing the main findings of the genome was published in June 2003.

A user friendly genome database, BoviList, is available for users.
