World Rabies Day 2009

Working Together to Make Rabies History!

World Rabies Day is an annual international event to raise awareness of rabies prevention and the impact of the disease on both humans and animals.

In 2006, a group of researchers, along with human and veterinary professionals, set up the Alliance for Rabies Control which led to the first World Rabies Day in 2007.

This year’s event is taking place on 28 September. Various events are being organised all over the world including:

• Animal vaccination clinics.
• Symposia and conferences.
• Pet ownership programmes.
• School visits to educate young children.

It is hoped that these events will help educate people on rabies prevention and the importance of seeking immediate medical treatment.

Researchers at VLA took part in climbing Mount Snowdon to raise awareness of rabies and World Rabies Day:
