VLA is a leading global player in the delivery of research and surveillance of national and international animal and veterinary public health significance. As part of a network of 16 laboratories, the research division is based near Weybridge, Surrey. The site has undergone a major multi-million pound redevelopment programme in recent years. It now houses an internationally recognised laboratory complex and animal accommodation including extensive containment level 3 and 4 specialist facilities.
