Whilst Defra’s review of its agencies was on-going, a VLA Advisory Group was in place and responsible for the line management and governance of the VLA. However, one of the recommendations of the review was to establish a Laboratory Strategy Committee to set the strategic direction for the development of VLA, the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS) and the Central Science Laboratory (CSL) to encourage innovation and collaboration between these agencies.
