Surveillance reports

The main outputs of VLA's surveillance programmes are a series of reports:

• Monthly Disease Surveillance Reports

• Quarterly Disease Surveillance Reports

• Parasitology Horizon Scanning Reports

• Veterinary Investigation Surveillance Reports (VIDA)

• Wildlife Disease Reports

Disease Surveillance Reports

These reports are an important part of the scanning (passive surveillance) system which VLA uses to alert Defra to any novel diseases or changing trends in existing ones. They are compiled using disease data gathered by our network of Regional Laboratories.

The monthly report is also published in the Veterinary Record. It summarises the overall position for England and Wales. A similar report is produced for Scotland by the Scottish Agricultural Colleges Veterinary Services Division (SACVSD).
