Salaries

Details are as shown in the relevant vacancy details. Salaries are assessed annually on 1 April each year. If you take up post part way through the annual reporting cycle, your first pay award will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

Salary is payable monthly in arrears.

Pension

The Civil Service offers a choice of occupational and stakeholder pensions, giving you the flexibility to choose the pension that suits you.

Holidays

10½ days public and privilege holidays. 30 days annual leave on appointment.

Flexible Working

Most Departments/Units operate flexible working hours.

Conditioned Hours

36 hour net working week, excluding meal breaks.

Learning & Development

VLA has been recognised as an Investor in People for the learning and development of staff. 'On the job' training is provided and there are a number of specialised courses staff are encouraged to attend to develop their skills and knowledge directly related to the job.

Season Ticket Loan

After three months permanent staff can apply for an interest free season ticket loan - to be recovered in equal instalments from salary over duration of season ticket.

Nursery

The VLA operates an Ofsted registered 26 place nursery for children aged 1 year to school age at the Weybridge site.

Nursery Allowance

A nursery allowance may be payable to parents of children aged 1 year to school age who either cannot obtain a place at the Weybridge site or who do not have access to the nursery due to geographical location.

Playscheme

An Ofsted registered 16 place Playscheme operates at February half-term, Easter, Summer and October half-term school holidays at the Weybridge site for school children up to 12 years of age. Surrey County Council holiday dates apply.
