VLA has recently diagnosed psoroptic mange, caused by Psoroptes sp. mites in cattle in Great Britain.
These are the first cases seen since the 1980s and it is probable that the infection has been imported from Europe.
There is no link with Psoroptes ovis (sheep scab) cases.
Please inform your local regional laboratory of any suspected cases of psoroptic mange in cattle. For further information also contact your local regional laboratory.
