We are a national and international reference laboratory for a wide range of farm animal diseases, and have close links with research institutes and universities worldwide.

Former VLA colleagues receive Queen's Birthday Honours Professor Steve Edwards, former Chief Executive, has been awarded a CBE. Professor Diane Newell, former Senior Scientific Consultant, has been awarded an OBE.
Steve has also received the 2009 Gold Award (pdf 20kb) from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) for his contribution to veterinary science and animal disease control.
