Buy Sustainable - Quick Wins
Workstations
The Technical Specifications are the requirements that a product must meet to achieve the Quick Win standard. Award Criteria are optional criteria, which a product does not need to meet in order to achieve the Quick Win standard. However, purchasers can choose to take these criteria into account at the award stage, e.g. in order for further differentiation between products meeting the Technical Specifications.
Workstations |
Purchase of workstations with low energy consumption to reduce the amount of energy consumed throughout the life cycle, the amount of waste sent to landfill and noise levels.
The European Commission has required that Energy Star criteria be used in Central Government Procurement, as of December 2007 |
MINIMUM Mandatory Technical Specification(s) |
- The product meets the performance requirements of ENERGY STAR
Products awarded the ENERGY STAR label will be deemed to comply. Other appropriate means of proof, such as a technical dossier of the manufacturer or a test report from a recognised body demonstrating that the criteria are met will also be accepted.

- Plastic parts >25 g have material codes according to ISO 11469 referring to ISO 1043
- Plastic parts are free from metal inlays or have inlays that can be removed with commonly available tools.
- Labels are easily separable. (This requirement does not apply to safety/regulatory labels)
- Upgrading can be done (e.g. with processor, memory, cards or drives)
- Upgrading can be done using commonly available tools
- Plastic parts >25 g are free from flame retardant substances/preparations above 0.1% classified as R45/46, R50/51/53 and R60/61 (67/548/EEC)
