Paper

New specifications have been developed for paper. An Impact Assessment (PDF 250 KB) has been completed and we are seeking feedback in relation to the proposed specifications (PDF 70 KB) via the consultation document (MS Word 70 KB).

Paper

Purchase of recycled copying paper and recycled tissue paper, to reduce the amount of waste paper sent to landfill or incineration, and to reduce the amount of virgin fibre needed

2008 MINIMUM Mandatory Specification(s)

1.  Copying paper must have 100% recycled content
2.  Tissue paper (kitchen and toilet tissue) must have 100% recycled content

Paper for Printed Publications:
1.  Paper for printed publications must have 50% recycled content.
NB All Departments are expected to move towards 75% recycled content for paper for printed publications and achieve full compliance by October 2009.

2.  Of the non-recycled content (50% or less), any virgin fibre used must be purchased in accordance with UK timber procurement policy. Only timber and timber products originating either from independently verified legal and sustainable sources or from a licensed Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade (FLEGT) partner can be purchased

NB The recycled content of copying / printing paper must only count recovered fibres in accordance with the NAPM definition of genuine recovered fibre.

From April 2015, only sustainably produced timber will be purchased

Same as the minimum specification
