- Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from all road transport rose by 13 per cent between 1990 and 2007, compared with GDP growth of 52 per cent. (Supporting indicators overleaf show the emissions from private cars and heavy goods vehicles included in the total above).
- By 2007 emissions of both nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulates (PM10) were respectively 58 per cent and 43 per cent lower than in 1990.
