- Between 1990 and 2007 output from UK agriculture changed little, but in 2007 it was 17 per cent higher than in the mid-1970s. By 1997 fertiliser use had risen by over half compared with the mid-1970s but thereafter was considerably reduced. Methane (CH4 ) and ammonia (NH3) emissions have fallen - by 15 and 22 per cent respectively since 1990.
- In 2007 farmland bird populations were 28 per cent lower than in 1990, and were 52 per cent lower than in 1974.
