  • Of the 13 selected countries, the UK had the second highest percentage of persons aged 15 or over classified as obese in 2003 - 23 per cent. The highest percentage was in the United States where 31 per cent were classed as obese. In Japan, the country with lowest percentage of obese people, this figure was 3 per cent.
