UK and selected countries

- Between 1992 and 2005, the percentage labour force participation (a measure of those in work as a percentage of the whole working age population) in the UK and 6 other of the compared countries has shown little or no change. During this period there has been an increase in participation in the Netherlands and Norway of 7.6 and 4 percentage points respectively.
- Between 1999 and 2005 there was little or no change in the percentage of labour force participation in all the countries.
- In 2005 the percentage participation in the UK was 62.6, the fourth lowest of the 10 countries for which data were available. Sweden had the highest percentage participation at 80.1 per cent.
