Amount of fertiliser used per hectare of arable and permanent cropland, 2002 to 2005
UK and selected countries

- Fertiliser use intensity declined in the UK between 2002 and 2005. There were also reductions in seven other of the eleven selected countries, little or no change in one country and an increase in two countries. The UK reduction in fertiliser use intensity of 9 per cent was the fourth largest.
- In 2005 UK fertiliser use intensity of 287.5 Kg per hectare was the second highest of the eleven selected countries. The highest was in the Netherlands (601 Kg per hectare) and the lowest was Australia (44.5 Kg per hectare).
