A sustainable Government estate

Government has a significant contribution to make to sustainable development and is committed to managing its estate sustainably. The Government recognises that it must lead by example and that sustainable operations are consistent with good value for money and efficiency.

Our vision of a sustainable Government estate
A sustainably managed estate embeds the principles of sustainable development into working practices and has resource efficient buildings, well managed land and efficient use of space.

How we get there
The Sustainable Development in Government (SDiG) framework applies outcome-focused targets to the Government estate. Announced in March 2010, SDiG replaces the Sustainable Operations on the Government Estate framework.

Targets
The Sustainable Development in Government (SDiG) framework sets new targets for sustainable development in Government. Government will continue to work towards the Sustainable Operations on the Government Estate targets with a 2010/11 deadline.
