Key contributions to sustainable development:
1. Working in developing countries with a wide range of stakeholders to help in the preparation and implementation of national strategies for poverty reduction.
2. Developing sectoral policies and plans for meeting specific UK commitments arising from the World Summit on Sustainable Development.
3. Ensuring our own development support is evaluated for social and environmental impacts.
4. Supporting key multilateral institutions that provide the information, policy forum, and/or resource mobilisation to tackle global sustainability issues.
5. Supporting developing countries' participation in international sustainable development initiatives.
6. Working towards national and international policy coherence for development, ensuring that policies in trade, migration, finance, etc, support development and do not undermine it.
