Revisions to the historical time series – Overview

As part of the quality assurance work, we have identified and implemented some methodological changes and improvements. This work has also identified further potential improvements which will be taken forward later in 2012. Where there have been revisions to the GB historical time series, these are detailed below in the National Statistics Stats notice published on 3rd April which can be found at:-

http://www.defra.gov.uk/statistics/files/defra-stats-foodfarm-landuselivestock-tb-statsnotice-120403.pdf.

Due to the historic revisions as described above, the annual regional statistics for 2011 are not currently directly comparable with those published for earlier years.  The regional statistics for earlier years will be revised in due course.

In using and interpreting the bovine TB (bTB) statistics, please note the following points:

All data are provisional, subject to change as more data becomes available.

A “Balancing item” column has been added to these tables as some records do not currently contain a region or disease status identifier.

The data provided is for Scotland, Wales and England , with the latter broken down to West, North and East regions.  We will produce revised 2010 and 2009 figures and further county level breakdowns in due course,  these will be published here when available.
