Review of Defra’s Bovine Tuberculosis Research programme

11-14 November 2002, Royal Society of Arts, London

A 5-yearly review of the research programme funded by Defra into bovine TB was held on 11-14 November 2002. Projects were discussed over four days under a number of themes: pathogenesis, immunology & genomics; vaccines & diagnostic tests, wildlife reservoirs; and disease modelling and risk assessment. The aims were to assess completed and ongoing research projects in terms of the programme's original objectives, their scientific quality and the potential usefulness of their outputs. The Final Summary Report Document below gives an introduction to Defra's Bovine TB programme; the aims and objectives of the review; a list of members of the independent review panel; the agenda; and a concise summary of each of the reviewed projects aims and progress, along with the ratings given to each project by the panel of referees. A list of publications generated from each project reviewed and additional project details, including final reports on completed projects (where available), are given below.
