Evidence and Innovation Strategy 2005-08 – Consultation

The E&IS consultation document has now been published and we are inviting feedback, and any further comments, on the report from stakeholders.

Hard copies will be available by end October. If you require a hard copy please contact Defra Publications on 08459 556000 and quote the product code PB 10871.

The Evidence and Innovation Strategy (E&IS) 2005-08 aims to deliver an improved, coherent and fit-for-purpose set of evidence and innovation activities that are better aligned and will support the delivery of Defra's Strategic Outcomes (as set out in Defra's Five Year Strategy) and longer term strategic direction.

The E&IS will also promote better integration, covering all of Defra's science and technology, economics, social science and statistics activities.

Through this consultation we are seeking feedback on whether we have identified the right priorities for the evidence and innovation activities needed to deliver our Strategic Outcomes and policy goals. Specific questions relating to this are contained in the individual sections for each of our Strategic Outcomes, please see below.

We are also taking an overview of the approach we have used to develop our Evidence and Innovation Strategy. We are looking for:

  • feedback on the approach we have used, and suggestions for tools to facilitate this work in future, highlighted in the introductory section
  • improved understanding about how Defra should work with other organisations (including our delivery/statutory bodies) to deliver evidence and innovation in support of our policy goals
  • views on the effectiveness of our consultation processes.

The deadline for the receipt of comments is 12th January 2005.

Please send all responses to The Science Strategy Team or Science Strategy Team, Area 1B, Nobel House, 17 Smith Square, London, SW1P 3JR.
