INDICATIVE DISCHARGES AND DOSES FROM REPRESENTATIVE REPROCESSING THROUGHPUTS

Figures are given below for Magnox and THORP reprocessing. The Magnox figures are based on:

  • 1200 tHM Magnox (burn up range – 1500 – 7300 MWd/tHM; cooling from 200–10,000 days);
  • 1020 tHM THORP, cooling time from 5 – 30 years consisting approximately 25 per cent AGR (burn up 10,000 to 40,000 MWd/tHM and 75 per cent LWR (burn up from 15,500 to 55,000 MWd/tHM).

Proportion of UK versus overseas fuel reprocessed through THORP averaged over period up to 2008/9 is approximately 9:11.

Note that 1TBq = 1012 Bq
