Consultation on the new uplands rewards structure (Rural Development Programme 2007-2013)
This consultation is now closed.
The consultation sought views on the future direction of Government incentives for sustainable land use and for improving the environment and countryside of the upland Less Favoured Areas (LFAs) in England.
The options presented in the paper are successor arrangements to the current Hill Farm Allowance (HFA). The paper makes it clear that Government’s aim is to use the funding to incentivise improved environmental land management, by linking it to agri-environment agreements.
This consultation was carried out alongside a consultation on the priorities for the Rural Development Programme for England 2007-2013, of which it will be part. The Rural Development Programme is an opportunity to deliver the public benefits that society wants by safeguarding and enhancing our rural environment and fostering thriving rural communities.
