England Rural Development Programme logoThe England Rural Development Programme enabled a variety of projects around the country. Below are a few of the highlights.

Manor Farm Feeds

A 40% Rural Enterprise Scheme grant of over £138,550 was awarded to Graeme and Vivienne Matravers of Manor Farm to convert redundant cow byres and Grade ll listed buildings into office accommodation, a new farm shop with meat cutting room and a bakery. The grant has also funded new toilets and washroom facilities on the farm in order to provide a service to visitors to the shop. [Learn more]

Life Hill Farm

The Grace family farm has benefited from a number of funding options under ERDP. About 30ha of arable land is farmed organically under the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS). The farm was accepted into the Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS) in 2000 - the plan includes hedgerow restoration, 2m and 6m field margins, restoration work on 3 dew ponds and orchard management. Finally, using the Rural Enterprise Scheme, outhouse buildings were converted into overnight accommodation for those using the stables. [Learn more]

Yorkshire Beef

A Rural Enterprise Scheme grant of over £107,000 was awarded to John Weatherill of Millington Grange Estate to help to expand his Yorkshire Beef Ltd operation to include other local producers in a collaborative marketing venture to improve the marketing of regionally produced Yorkshire beef.
