At present, the Committee's timetable is as follows:
On 11 November 1999, in answer to a Parliamentary Question, the Home Secretary announced the establishment of the Inquiry.
The Inquiry’s membership and terms of reference were announced on 9 December 1999 by the Home Secretary.
Request for 1st stage written evidence sent out: 19 January 2000
Deadline for 1st stage written evidence: 21 February 2000
Request for 2nd stage written evidence sent out: 17 April 2000
Deadline for 2nd stage written evidence: 7 May 2000
The Committee is aiming to report to the Home Secretary shortly.
