Omnibus Survey- 2006

The Omnibus Survey commissioned by the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA), was part-funded by Defra, and looks specifically at the size and perception of the Horse Industry in the UK, as well as including participation data for the Industry.

The National Equestrian Survey 2006 commissioned by BETA, will give more detail on the nature and structure of the marketplace and the full report will be available from the BETA website.

A summary of the Omnibus Survey is available [PDF] (55KB). This survey built upon an earlier piece of research commissioned jointly by Defra with the British Horse Industry Confederation, to underpin the development of the Horse Industry Strategy. This research was published on the 25th of March 2004 and provided the first coherent map of the industry and its component sectors. It helped to identify the baseline - in economic terms - from which the industry is starting, and suggests key issues for the development of the strategy.
