The Government is committed to making all of our public spaces into cleaner, safer, greener communities. Government has introduced new measures, initiatives and funding to improve local public space, and this Voluntary Code is part of the continuing developments in this area.

This Voluntary Code in no way stands alone - it is part of a raft of Government measures to make all of us more responsible for the quality of our local environment. These measures do not concentrate solely on the business community but also on local service providers and the public and are aimed at ensuring that we all play our respective roles in improving the quality of the areas in which we live and work.

This Voluntary Code is the result of two years of research and consultation. It provides a suggested framework to help all concerned to take some responsibility to reduce the litter and waste that comes from selling and consuming food on the go, and improve the area for all.
