Plant Health: Responsibility and cost sharing study
New Plant Health Study
A new study into plant health threats to the UK has now been published.
The study, conducted by Imperial College, was jointly funded by the Government and the horticultural and agricultural industries. It looks at responsibility and cost sharing options for dealing with plant health threats and provides an evidence base against which future policy can be considered.
The report also looks to the future and identifies that the risk of new plant pests and diseases being introduced to the country is likely to increase with the impacts of climate change, globalisation of trade and travel and the evolution of new pests and diseases.
Defra will now be considering with industry representatives how best to take this work forward.
