Plant Varieties and Seeds Gazette

The Plant Varieties and Seeds Gazette is normally published monthly, in electronic form only, and contains information relating to practices and procedures covered under the Plant Varieties Act 1997, the Plant Breeders’ Rights Regulations 1998 and the Seeds (National Lists of Varieties) Regulations 2001 (as amended).

Plant Breeders' Rights and National List information letters

These will be published regularly to keep you up to date on National Listing and Plant Breeders' Rights matters and will include information such as changes in procedure (both administrative and technical) and closing dates.

  • NL/PBR 5/08 (PDF 100 KB): gives details of Annual Charges and Revision to the scoring arrangements for assessing disease resistance for varieties of combinable crops.
  • NL/PBR 4/08 (PDF 43 KB): gives details of Obligatory Characters and their relative importance to be used when considering Potato Varieties for addition to the UK National List, revised Protocols and Procedures for VCU Trials, Office closing dates.
  • NL/PBR 3/08 (PDF 43 KB): gives details of revised fees for National Listing and Plant Breeders’ Rights Services
  • NL/PBR 2/08 (PDF 19 KB): gives details of final TQs, fees and charges issues and office closure dates for PVS Division over the Easter period.
  • NL/PBR 1/08 (PDF 19 KB): gives details of the Consultation on proposed fee changes for National Listing and Plant Breeders’ Rights Services, changes to DUS testing arrangements (replacement of cereal ear rows with plots )and revised VCU procedures.
  • NL/PBR 4/07 (PDF 754 KB): gives details of obligatory characters and their relative importance to be used in decision making for 2008 (herbage, maize, fodder and sugar beet)/additional new style technical questionnaires now available/ closure dates for PVS office in December and January.
