PVS: Plant Breeders' Rights

Application Procedure

When making an application the following must be submitted to PVSD:

  1. completed application form
  2. a completed Technical Questionnaire and, if appropriate, the Technical Questionnaire Confidential Part
  3. a colour photograph showing the representative features of the variety for ornamental applications
  • All applications and documents must be in English or be accompanied by an English translation.
  • PVSD will acknowledge receipt of applications and allocate a reference number, quote this number on all correspondence regarding the variety.
  • PVSD will normally request seed/plant material except for rye, triticale and winter oilseed rape which will be requested by BSPB.

Payments

There are new arrangements for payment of the administration fee. Payment options are:

BACS payments email the completed RAS 1 form (see forms page) to: ssd.financeAR@defra.gsi.gov.uk

Cheque payments: send the completed RAS 1 form (see forms page) with a cheque made payable to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to:

York YO1 7PX

The fee should not be sent to PVSD; the completed RAS 1 form need not be sent to PVSD.
