European Commission Review of Marketing Legislation

The European Commission has initiated an evaluation of 12 Directives on the marketing of seeds and plant propagating material. This includes the Directives on marketing seed potatoes (2002/56), fruit plants (92/34), ornamental propagating material (98/56), young vegetable plants (92/33) and vines (68/193), as well as Directives on agricultural/vegetable seeds and forestry material.

As part of this process a questionnaire has been circulated seeking stakeholder views on the operation of the Directives, including suggestions for the future. Submitting your views is a good opportunity to influence the shape of any future legislative regime in these areas. Some organisations have received the questionnaire direct from the Commission, but views from all organisations are welcomed.

Further details and the questionnaire are available at: http://ec.europa.eu/food/plant/propagation/evaluation/index_en.htm

If you wish to participate, please note that questionnaires must be returned to the Commission by no later than 11 April.
