Phytophthora ramorum - classification You may have been confused to see Phytophthora ramorum described sometimes as a fungus-like organism. The reason for this is that the oomycetes (water mould fungi), including Phytophthora, Pythium and downy mildews are now generally considered to be non-photosynthetic members of the taxon - CHROMISTA. More information and explanation is provided on these websites: http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/chromista/chromista.html http://www.nearctica.com/nathist/protista/chromist.htm _______________________________________________________________________ Click here to view the P. ramorum summary of information on the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organisation (EPPO) website.
