Greener Living Fund launched
Eight projects from around England will share in £6 million of funding through the Government’s Greener Living Fund, Environment Secretary Hilary Benn announced last week.
The successful projects went through a two-stage application process and were selected from 112 original applications. A total of £4.8 million will be divided between the following projects, with the remainder of the money going towards other activities that support the aims of the Greener Living Fund:
- National Union of Students
- Waterwise Project
- Sustrans
- National Trust
- Marine Stewardship Council
- Global Action Plan
- Co-operativesUK
- Climate Outreach and Information Network (COIN).
Mr Benn said: “It’s a pleasure to launch the Greener Living Fund today, and to announce the eight successful projects from around England which have won funding for the next two years. Each of these projects will make a real difference in helping individuals and communities to live more sustainably – reducing their carbon footprint and reducing pressure on natural resources.”
Wes Streeting, President of the National Union of Students, said: "The Greener Living Fund means the NUS can support students to live greener lifestyles, and enthuse those around them to do the same. Students today will have a major influence on the world tomorrow, meaning the impact is direct and long lasting".
