Open Farm Sunday - 7 June 2009

Open Farm Sunday logoLooking for something fun to do this weekend?  Then why not take time to explore our vibrant countryside and have some fun ‘down on the farm’.

Farms are opening up all over the country as part of Open Farm Sunday and will be inviting you to join them in exploring the links between our food and nature.

If food is your thing, come and meet the people who dedicate their lives to growing what we eat, experience first-hand what farming is all about and of course take some time to sample the local country produce.

There’s plenty for everyone to get involved with, whether young or old.  Each event will be unique with its own activities, based around the host farm’s own individual story, but may include nature trails and pond dipping or tractor and trailer rides for example. If that all sounds a bit energetic then you could simply while away the hours soaking up the scenery and letting your senses feast upon the sounds, sights and smells of the farmyard.

So pull on your wellies and come and join the fun at your local farm.

Open Farm Sunday is a national farm open day coordinated by LEAF and supported by Defra. Go to the Open Farm Sunday website to find out what’s happening near you.
