Defra's website has changed

Old Defra website homepageThank you for telling us what would make our website work better for you.  In response to your feedback, we’ve redesigned and restructured the site to make it more user-friendly.

For example, we asked how you navigate the site to look up issues and areas of policy that we cover.  As a direct result of your suggestions, the key navigation at the top of the page has been improved, making it easier for you to find what you are looking for.  We have also created some new signposting information with the ‘you may also be interested in...’ section on each page.

Our aim has been to present a clearer and more engaging view of Defra's work so our new visual design will better accommodate an increased use of audio and video content in the future.

We’ve had to change the web addresses for most of our information (except consultations and some news content) and we’re sorry if this has caused you any inconvenience.  The scale of the redesign meant that it was not possible to redirect individual pages and document links to their new address.  The new structure should clearly point you to what you are looking for but you can always turn to our A-Z index for help in finding a particular page.

These changes have been well received by our test users but are just part of a longer programme of work to improve our website and make it easier and more effective for you to use.  In the next six months, we aim to make further improvements to the content and introduce an improved search engine.

We’re always interested in hearing from you so if you do have any comments or feedback, please email us at: webmaster@defra.gsi.gov.uk
