Minister for Wildlife responds to report on biodiversity

kiteDefra has responded to the report from the Environmental Audit Committee on meeting the key international target to halt biodiversity loss by 2010.

Minister for Wildlife Huw Irranca-Davies said:

“As the Environmental Audit Committee recognises, good progress has been made towards halting biodiversity loss but much more remains to be done.

"Britain is committed to wildlife conservation, and the government will take forward many of the Committee's recommendations, working with other government departments and agencies, wildlife and conservation groups, and land managers.

“We are pressing for a realistic but challenging successor to the global 2010 target for biodiversity to build on the progress already made.”
