Draft Legislative Programme 2008-09
The Government has today published ‘Preparing Britain for the Future — the Draft Legislative Programme 2008-09’, which sets out the UK Government’s plans for legislative and key non-legislative action in next year’s Parliamentary session.
Defra’s Marine Bill has been has been included in the draft legislative programme for the next session (autumn 2008 – summer 2009).
The Marine Bill will mark the first step towards a coordinated UK marine law, with a new marine planning system and marine conservation powers. It aims to ensure clean healthy, safe, productive and biologically diverse oceans and seas, by putting in place better systems for delivering sustainable development of marine and coastal environment.
