Consultation: UK Renewable Energy Strategy

Wind turbineThe Department For Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) has today launched a consultation on the UK Renewable Energy Strategy.

The consultation seeks views on how to drive up the use of renewable energy in the UK, to tackle climate change and meet our share of the EU target to source 20% of the EU’s energy from renewable sources by 2020.

We’re encouraging everyone to share their views on the best and most cost-effective way of achieving a greater use of renewable energy.

Responses to this consultation will help shape the UK Renewable Energy Strategy, which will be published in spring 2009. The consultation closes on 26 September 2008.

BERR lead on the Government’s central energy policy, while Defra lead on energy efficiency.
