New British Waterways Board member

Rodney Green has been appointed a non-executive member of the Board of British Waterways, the public corporation that looks after canals and rivers in England, Scotland and Wales.

Mr Green’s appointment is for three years from 1 May 2009.  British Waterways Board members receive £13,030 a year based on a minimum of two days’ work a month. 

Mr Green was Chief Executive of Leicester City Council from 1996 to 2008.

This appointment has been made in accordance with guidance issued by the Office for the Commissioner for Public Appointments. All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. There is a requirement for appointees’ political activity (if any declared) to be made public.  A declaration of no political activity has been made.
