Horse passports – withdrawal of recognition from the Spotted Horse and Pony Society

Defra hereby gives notice that, the Spotted Horse and Pony Society {SHAPS} Sprout Farm Wilday Green Barlow Dronfield S18 7SH no longer meets the criteria for recognition of organisations or associations which maintain or establish stud-books,  This criteria is set out in the Annex to Commission Decision 92/353/EEC. Therefore,  the recognition of the Spotted Horse and Pony Society as such an organisation will be withdrawn - in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 4 [1] [a] of the Horses (Zootechnical Standards) Regulations 2006. This will take effect from 12 May 2008. 

Consequently, from that date the Spotted Horse and Pony Society will no longer be authorised to issue passports under Regulation 3 of The Horse Passports (England) Regulations 2004.   Passports issued by this Society will however remain valid.
