What happens next?

The draft Bill will go for pre-legislative Scrutiny by Parliament in the Summer. This involves thorough discussion by a Committee of the House, and also gives people and organisations with an interest in the Bill the opportunity to give their views to the Committee. The timetable and sitting days will be announced on the Parliament website.
After pre-legislative scrutiny we’ll be amending the draft Bill as necessary. It will then be introduced to Parliament when the Parliamentary timetable allows.
The earliest opportunity would arise in the next session of Parliament this autumn and so we are working to make sure we are ready should the Parliamentary timetable allow.
We are already starting to work on implementation of all the measures to help to deliver our vision of "clean, healthy, safe, productive and biologically diverse oceans and seas" and to improve coastal access.
