Fisheries Management: Registration of buyers and sellers of fish

In September 2005 UK Fishery Departments introduced a scheme of registration for buyers and sellers of first sale fish and designation of fish auction sites. As part of its commitment to continuous improvement, Defra has now conducted a telephone review of the application process. Approximately 10% of registered buyers, sellers and auction markets in England were contacted and the results are summarised below:

Forms for registering as a Buyer or Seller of fish under the Registration of Fish Buyers and Sellers and Designation of Fish Auction sites Regulations 2005:

  • RBS 1 - Application for registered status as a buyer or seller of first sale fish in the UK
  • RBS 2 - Explanatory leaflet: Applying to be a registered buyer or seller of first sale fish in the UK
  • RBS 3 - Application for designation of premises as an auction site in the UK
  • RBS 4 - Explanatory leaflet: Designation of premises as an auction site in the UK

You can search to find out if premises are designated as an auction site or if an individual or company is a registered buyer or seller of first sale fish.

Search by name, applicant type, or registration/designation number if known.
