Vet schools: LinksUniversity of Bristol - School of Veterinary ScienceThe School of Veterinary Science is based in the Faculty of Medicine and consequently enjoys comparative educational and research links with the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. In the last Subject Review (a quality assurance exercise undertaken by the Quality Assurance Agency in 1999), the School was awarded a maximum score of 24 for all aspects of its teaching and learning provision. More recently, it gained a grade 5 in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise, signifying international excellence. Department of Clinical Veterinary MedicineThe Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine research encompasses basic and applied biomedical and veterinary sciences. It ranges from molecular sciences to whole-animal research, clinical sciences and comparative medicine. We aim to be internationally competitive in research, to foster collaborations with academia and industry and to ensure that our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical work benefit from research excellence. The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary StudiesThe Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies is at the forefront of veterinary education, the School is the lead site for the development of CLIVE (Computer-aided Learning in Veterinary Education). This is a consortium of all the UK veterinary schools that are developing the software that will enable them to offer all their students the most modern methods of veterinary education. is the largest veterinary school in the UK. It received the maximum score
of 24 out of 24 in an assessment of teaching standards by the Quality
Assurance Agency in 2000. In 1999 it also became the first UK veterinary
school to be granted approval by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Royal College of Veterinary SurgeonsThe RCVS is the regulatory body for veterinary surgeons in the UK. Its role is to safeguard the health and welfare of animals committed to veterinary care through the regulation of the educational, ethical and clinical standards of the veterinary profession, thereby protecting the interests of those dependent on animals and assuring public health. And to act as an impartial source of informed opinion on animal health and welfare issues and their interaction with human health. University of Warwick - Department of Biological ScienceThe Department of Biological Sciences has consistently received a high rating for its research in the research assessment exercises, being 'starred' by the UGC in 1986 and given a rating of 5 in 1989, 1992, 1996 and 2001. The Department currently has 57 members of Academic Staff. The research staff are organised into eight Research Groups, of which the Neurosciences and the Molecular Physiology Research Groups have been added in the last few years.
